A great nation never forgets it's brave men and women who died in defense of their country. Memorial Day shouldn't be about a chance for a 3 day weekend, or retail "sales". Let us celebrate those who gave their all for us and their comrades in arms. Captain James Lawrence died for our country in the War of 1812.
I took these photos while walking up Broadway from Battery Park, heading for Soho. I was attracted by the sight of two U.S. Navy sailors in their summer whites, wandering among the graves at Trinity Church, at Wall Street and Broadway.
