Monday Book Give Away, #32
The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Hiffenegger, is what I'm giving away, today. This is a trade paper signed copy. This is a great book, and as I'm sure you know, they've made a movie.
Audrey Niffenegger's innovative debut, The Time Traveler's Wife, is the story of Clare, a beautiful art student, and Henry, an adventuresome librarian, who have known each other since Clare was six and Henry was thirty-six, and were married when Clare was twenty-three and Henry thirty-one. Impossible but true, because Henry finds himself periodically displaced in time, pulled to moments of emotional gravity from his life, past and future. His disappearances are spontaneous, his experiences unpredictable, alternately harrowing and amusing.
The Time Traveler’s Wife depicts the effects of time travel on Henry and Clare's marriage and their passionate love for each other, as the story unfolds from both points of view. Clare and Henry attempt to live normal lives, pursuing familiar goals — steady jobs, good friends, children of their own. All of this is threatened by something they can neither prevent nor control, making their story intensely moving and entirely unforgettable.
If you're interested, leave a comment. I will keep the comments open until Sunday afternoon and then announce the winner on Monday morning when I offer a new book. The winner will chosen by the Random-Number-Generator.

I've wanted to read this one...I'm sorry that I've been such a bad blogger and bloggy friend as of late. Life is CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteOh no, I too have really, really, really wanted to read this book. I refuse to see the movie until I can read the book. This would truly be my first & favorite book to read on my upcoming vacation. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope, hope, hope.

PS - Does it help to know I donate books to small community libraries in Hawaii? I've actually donated the entire Harry Potter series HB, and many more books too!
I heard the book was far better than the movie. I'd love to read this one!
