Music

Since music is essential in my life; I thought I'd tell about two CDs I purchased lately, that I love. The CDs are both tribute albums, which can be an iffy thing in the wrong hands, but these are very sucessful. Both artist are what I think of as American Roots musicians.

The Man of Somebody's Dreams: A Tribute to the Songs of Chris Gaffney

Gaffney and Sahm are musical soul mates, genre-defying singers and writers who were equally at home with a Tex-Mex polka, a honky-tonk two-step, a soul ballad or a rock 'n' roll barn-burner. And both dusky-voiced singers were intimately attuned to the geography from which that music sprang. Even some of the same artists are represented on both CDs, Los Lobos, Dave Alvin and Alejandro Escovedo.
Try 'em, you'll like 'em.
