Scanning

I have close to a gazillion cousins.  Recently Cousin Carol FB messaged me about a cache of twenty photos that she thought I'd like.  She wanted to mail them to me, and I jumped at the chance to have them.  My Mom gave all the family photos to my sister, years ago, so this was great.  I finally scanned them into my files and these are just some of them, all taken in the1940s.

Me, about 18 months

Aunt Katie, me and Mom.

These last two are me with Aunt Katie.

Aunt Katie was very important in my life.  After this time period, she contracted TB, and was sent to a sanitorium in West Virginia.  I remember my family visiting her in WV.  Mom and Dad could go inside and see her, but my sister and I had to wait outside and wave and try to entertain her from the lawn.  After leaving the sanitorium, she returned to Long Beach, then settled in Lancaster, CA, for the desert climate.  She lived for many years with 3/4 of one lung!  She was amazing.  She couldn't bear her own children, because of her health, but she and my uncle adopted two children as infants.

I spent many summers with my Aunt Katie and Uncle Glen.  My Mom scheduled her breakdowns during the summer, pretty regularly, so off I'd go to Lancaster, and a summer full of fun and helping Aunt Katie.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing my life with me,

  2. What a great gift, I worry about what will happen to all of my parents photos and movies. I don't suppose your sister will share with you?
