Blogging friends

One of by blogging friends, who I've "known" for about 4 years, asked me, via FB last Wednesday, if I'd be interesting in making a quilt for her, a Queen or King size quilt.  I told her I hadn't made one that large before, but I'd like to do it, but only if she's not in a hurry.  We started "talking" back and forth on FB; discussing measurements, fabric choices, quilt patterns and stitching options.

Before the discussion was very far along, I got to thinking, this is a lot of work and a lot of fabric, and I've never met this gal IRL, maybe I should ask for a deposit.  Logical, but I've never done a commission quilt so I'm taking baby steps, here.

I have several quilting friends, who I've also never met IRL, but who I "know".  So I shot off an email to four of them with my question.  They all answered back within one day.  Isn't that amazing.  They all said that I should ask for a deposit, and I did.

This is the fabric she's chosen:

Rue Saint Germain Fat Quarter Bundle Robyn Pandolph for RJR Fabrics

I'll order the fabric, as soon as I have the deposit.  The pattern she chose is this one.  I think it will be beautiful.
Thanks for stopping by, we enjoyed having you,

  1. Yes, always, ask for a deposit! If a person gives me complete freedom, then I'm gonna pick something I like, in case I'm stuck with it.:-}pokey
Hope you have a good time sewing and a good experience with the "commissioned" project. Yes, it will be pretty!

  2. I agree, thats a good idea to get a deposit. This will give you a challenge.

  3. I think the fabric is great. The pattern is real nice. The quilting is unbelievable! Can we clone your long arm quilter. I want to be her when I grow up.! Amazing to say the least.

  4. Good girl...get that deposit. And I agree this quilt will be beautiful.

  5. deposit - yes, most definitely, that's a lot of work and we know it's going to turn out lovely (like all of the lovely quilts you sent us!) that's going to be one pretty quilt, too, kind of shabby chic.
