Quilt Festival and Renegade

I had a really great weekend. I started out in Long Beach, my hometown, at the International Quilt Festival.

It was a wonderful clear day, with clear blue skies. This shot was taken from the parking lot of the Convention Center, near Shore Line Drive.

I spent the next 5 hours, plus, indoors pursuing the vendors and looking at the fabulous quilts on display. The vendors were a mixed bag, some were great, and some left me scratching my head. (I only spent 1/2 of what I thought I would, a miracle.)

The quilts being displayed, on the other hand, were fabulous.

The were both modern are antique quilts on display, and they were displayed by color, theme and/or time period.

I've only chosen a few to show on the blog.

If you're interested in seeing more, let me know, and I'll email your own "Personal Quilt Show".

I spent the night in Long Beach and drove to Los Angeles in the morning for the Renegade Craft Fair. On Sunday, the sky was full of wispy clouds; this shot was taken looking toward the LA Civic Center.

Renegade was lots of fun. It was only about 80 degrees, but very little breeze. Again, I left with money in my pocket. A weekend of miracles.

I got there really early to be sure I got a parking place, good thing, too. When I left, I could have sold my parking space. One man actually knocked on my window, asking me to hurry. (I didn't.)

I had lunch at Phillipe's and drove home.

  1. I don't know how you made it home with money in your pocket. You must be very picky...which is a good thing.

Thanks for sharing the quilts. They are marvelous. I just want to touch all of them. But I know that they frown on that. Loved my sneak peek!

  2. What fun! I really love that quilt that looks like a quilt floating above the mountains.

It had to be great inspiration to see all those quilts in person.

  7. I'm so happy to hear you had fun at the IQF LB show, as well as the craft fair. Thanks for sharing insights. I really missed not being able to go to the LB show this year (off boating). I'd love to see more of your photos, if you are willing to share. But no urgency as we won't be home till early next week.
