Southern California has been a battleground of forest fires. The above "cloud" is really smoke. If you compare it to the images from the first part of the week, below, you can see our heroic firefighters are getting a handle on it. These were taken at a soccer field, in Seal Beach, far from the fires, 5 days apart.

We've been getting a haze from the fires down there all the way up here in Colorado. Made for some spectacular sunsets, but dang, what a price!
