The second part of our week in Manhattan, we attended Book Expo America. This is my 8th time attending, and over the years the BEA has changed; but we had a great time and came home with lots of books to keep us busy.
Thursday afternoon we attende an Editor's Buzz session; where editors from various publishing houses, tout their author and his/her new book. Opening night featured Steven Tyler and Clarence Clemons; they were interviews by Chuck Klosterman, who is very interesting, too. Clemons played the sax for us, too. They've both written R&R memiors to be published soon.
Friday morning we attended a Children's Authors Breakfast. Breakfast speakers were Meg Cabot, Tomie dePaola, Julie Andrews and Amy Krouse Rosenthal. Pete Seeger paid a surprise visit and sang a couple of songs! I have to tell you Meg Cabot was very funny.
Friday afternoon and all day Saturday, we browsed the bookfloor, visiting publishers and authors. We saw some of our favorites and had them sign their books. There were long lines for some othe big authors and we spent a good part of our days figuring out where to go and who to see.
Sunday morning with went to the Book and Author Breakfast, featuring Richard Russo, Pete Dexter, Gail Collins and Joe Scarborough. It was very interesting. I love Richard Russo and Pete Dexter has us rolling in the aisles. That was entirely unexpected, if you've read him, you know what I mean.
