Quilter's meet-up

I had a meet-up with Darlene, the SewCalGal, don't you just love her moniker? She lives in San Diego and we visited two San Diego area quilt stores. She is uber organized and picked the perfect spot for us to meet, then off we went.

Our first stop was the Cozy Quilt Shop, in El Cajon. The occasion was their once a month Fat Quarters Anonymous. It was a lot of fun, and the room was packed. A rough estimate was about 80 in attendance.

This is the quilt that was debuted and everyone received a copy of the pattern. It's called Spin City and uses 6 to 28 fat quarters, depending on the size you choose. The instructions are clear, and well illustrated. After the presentaion, there were a couple of product demos, then a Show and Tell.

Several quilters brought their projects to show off; and they were great.

Some Wacky Cats.

A wonderful baby quilt.

I don't know the name of this one, but it's very striking.

Isn't this a great way to showcase a panel?

These next two are just fabulous.

These are the "quilt models". When the Show and Tell started,
they just stood up, from the audience, and helped out.

Our next stop was Memory Lane Quilt Shop in Santee. It was a great shop and I made a purchase. Now, Darlene is camera shy, so I can't show you what she looks like, but I will tell you, we could be related. Take my photo, below, subtract some pounds, subtract some years, take away the glasses, add some hair, hers was super thick, add some beauty, and that's Darlene.

We had a great time, and I hope we'll do it again.

  1. You are too funny. I think you are certainly more photogenic than I am!
