Unfortunate Coincidence

Unfortunate Coincidence by Dorothy Parker
From Enough Rope

By the time you swear you're his,
Shivering and sighing,
And he vows his passion is
Infinite, undying,
Lady, make a note of this —
One of you is lying.

First printed in Life, (8 April 1926) p. 11

  1. My mind doesn't grasp most poetry, but I have to say I've had an affection for Dorothy Parker's work since I stumbled across it in my 20's. I have several books by and about her. Wonderful!
